Protect Internet Freedom

Phone and cable companies like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon are doing everything they can to seize control of the Internet. They want to gut Net Neutrality — the principle preserving the free and open Internet — and decide which sites go fast, which go slow, and which won’t load at all.

President Obama, Congress and the FCC need to hear from you. Sign our petition and let them know that Latinos value online freedom. Our ability to use the Internet to fight discrimination, support our businesses, educate our children, organize in our communities, manage our immigration status and speak freely online is at stake.

Latinos for Internet Freedom

Dear [President Obama & FCC Commissioners cc: Member of Congress]: *

The Internet is the most inclusive, democratic, transformative communications system ever created. For the sake of our community, we must keep it that way. We’re writing to demand that you protect Latinos’ Internet freedom by taking a stand for Net Neutrality, the principle that preserves the open Internet.

In the digital age, so much of our professional, personal and political lives depends on equal access to the open Internet. The fight to prevent corporate control of the Internet is critical to fighting discrimination, supporting our businesses, educating our children, organizing in our communities, and speaking freely online.

In the United States, Latinos number 47 million, with nearly 19 million of us online. As a dynamic and engaged community whose political coming-of-age depends on access to the open Internet, we have no choice but to call on you to protect our Internet freedom.

We urge the FCC to re-establish its authority over Internet providers so that the agency can make Net Neutrality the rule of the road.  We urge our members of Congress to support the FCC’s efforts, and we urge President Obama to act on his commitment to “take a back seat to no one" in his support for Net Neutrality.
